The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin is a premium adventure motorcycle built for riders who want to combine long-distance touring with serious off-road capability. The Africa Twin was available with both manual and DCT gearbox options, making it suitable for riders with different preferences. Although it is currently discontinued in India, its combination of performance, touring range and off-road ability makes the CRF1100L Africa Twin one of Honda’s most capable adventure motorcycles.
The Africa Twin uses a 1,082.96cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 99.2 PS at 7,500rpm and 103Nm at 6,000rpm. It was available with a six-speed manual gearbox as well as Honda's DCT automatic transmission. The motorcycle has a claimed top speed of around 202 km/h, giving it enough performance for highway touring while retaining the low-speed tractability needed for off-road riding.
The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin has an ARAI-claimed mileage of 20 km/l. Actual fuel efficiency can vary depending on riding conditions, luggage, traffic and how frequently the motorcycle is ridden off-road.
In terms of features, the Africa Twin comes equipped with a digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, cruise control, riding modes, power modes and a quickshifter. It also gets Honda Selectable Torque Control, wheelie control and throttle-by-wire technology. Safety equipment includes switchable dual-channel ABS.
For riders looking at the Africa Twin for adventure touring, its hardware is one of its key strengths. The motorcycle gets a 21-inch front spoke wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, along with a telescopic front fork and Pro-Link rear suspension. Braking duties are handled by twin 310mm front discs and a 256mm rear disc, while switchable ABS allows riders to adapt the bike for off-road conditions.
The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin measures 2,307 mm in length, 963 mm in width and 1,523 mm in height, with a 1,558 mm wheelbase. It has 210 mm of ground clearance, a seat height ranging from 810 mm to 830 mm and a kerb weight of 239 kg.
The 2026 global Africa Twin range gets updated colour schemes and graphics. The standard and electronic-suspension versions are offered globally in colours including Grand Prix Red, Matte Ballistic Black Metallic and Pearl Glare White, although the exact colours for a future India-spec model have not been confirmed.
The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin was discontinued in India in May 2025, with its last recorded ex-showroom price starting at ₹15.96 lakh for the manual version and ₹17.50 lakh for the DCT variant. Globally, Honda has unveiled the 2026 Africa Twin range with updated colours and graphics while retaining the existing mechanical package. The updated model is expected to make a comeback in India, although a confirmed India launch date has not been announced.
The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin has an average mileage of 20 kmpl, according to the Honda official website.
