The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a motorcycle that blends the beauty of classic charm with the precision of modern engineering, resulting in probably one of the most wanted mid-size cruisers. The Interceptor has its share of fun in stop-start city traffic and long highway rides, making it perfect for those seeking nostalgia and reliability.
Available for Rs 3.03 lakhs to Rs 3.31 lakhs (ex-showroom price), the Interceptor offers excellent value as a mid-size cruiser offering retro styling, state-of-the-art features, and supreme riding comfort. The Interceptor 650 is available in four variants i.e. Interceptor 650 Standard, Interceptor 650 Custom, Interceptor 650 Alloy Wheel, and Interceptor 650 Chrome. The Standard variant is old-school cool, while the Custom variant is a bit more bespoke.
The Interceptor 650 comes in seven vibrant colour options, so the rider can pick one that best suits their personality. The colours are Canyon Red, Cali Green, Black Pearl, Sunset Strip, Black Ray, Barcelona Blue, and Mark 2 Chrome. The retro looks of the bike, combined with its contemporary features, give it a pleasing and attention-grabbing appearance on the roads.
The Interceptor 650 has at its core a 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine, which produces 47 bhp and 52 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed transmission and a slip-and-assist clutch, which ensures smooth gear shifts and a comfortable highway ride, with an estimated mileage of 25-30 kmpl.
The Interceptor 650's features and technology comprise a twin-pod analogue instrument cluster with a digital inset showing odometer, fuel level, and trip meters. The bike now features LED headlights, a USB charging point, and new switchgear for better usability. The Black Ray and Barcelona Blue colours also receive alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, which enhance convenience and safety for riders.
For suspension and ride comfort, the bike is made on the double-cradle tubular steel frame. The front has 41-mm telescopic forks, and the rear uses gas-charged twin-shock Absorbers, thus maintaining balance while riding on different terrains.
The braking system consists of a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, assisted by dual-channel ABS, which provides a strong bite. The 18-inch wheels couple with Ceat tyres for stability on all surfaces. Weighing 218 kg, the bike comes with a seat height of 804 mm and ground clearance of 174 mm, providing a balanced and accessible riding experience.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has an average mileage of 25 kmpl, according to the Royal Enfield official website.
