The BMW M8 Competition Coupé is the brand's all-out flagship high-performance coupé, boasting 625 hp, 750 Nm, and a 0-100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds. The balance is provided by M xDrive, an adaptable suspension, the M Carbon exterior package, and Laserlight technology, creating a car with track capabilities that is also suitable for everyday use.
BMW M8 Competition Coupé is powered by a highly engineered 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine turning out 460 kW (625 hp) and 750 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted through an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with Drivelogic, and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, featuring an Active M differential, distributes power to the wheels. It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches a limited top speed of 250 km/h. Fuel efficiency is rated at 8.77 km/l (combined) with CO₂ emissions at 262 g/km.
At 4,867 mm long, 2,137 mm wide, and 1,362 mm high, the BMW M8 Competition Coupé maintains an elegant, low-slung profile with a wide-arched and muscular stance. The vast kidney grilles, aggressive air intakes, and Laserlight headlights show a 600 m range with blue accents. The side view features sculpted aerodynamic lines, carbon-fibre mirror caps, 20-inch alloy wheels, and wide-arched fenders. The rear view features a carbon fiber rear spoiler, diffuser insert, quad exhausts, and RS-inspired detailing, exemplifying a sporty appeal.
Inside, the M8 Competition Coupé features full Merino leather upholstery with multiple color themes, including Black, Silverstone, Midrand Beige, Sakhir Orange, and Taruma Brown. Carbon fibre trim, Alcantara accents, and illuminated “M8 Competition” sills add exclusivity. Safety and driver assistance include M Compound brakes, adaptive suspension, BMW Laserlight, and multiple drive modes (Comfort, Sport, Sport+). The infotainment system runs on BMW iDrive with smartphone connectivity and navigation.
The BMW M8 Competition Coupé is offered in a single variant, priced at ₹ 2.44 crore.
The top speed of the coupé is 250 km/h (electronic limit). Things We Like
Could be Better
The BMW M8 Competition Coupé is the most powerful coupé offered by BMW in India, blending supercar performance with luxury grand tourer comfort.
The low stance, muscular proportions, and generous use of carbon fiber of the M8 Competition Coupé are guaranteed head-turners. The kidney grille, Laserlight with blue accents, and quad exhausts only reinforce its identity as a pure M car. The road presence of the M8 completely seems like one huge attention grabber for a track machine.
Ride quality prioritises dynamics over outright comfort, featuring a very firm suspension setting for enhanced cornering agility. Adaptive damping and multiple drive modes allow the drivers to choose between comfort and sport, but one would feel the stiffness on potholes and uneven roads. Alcantara and leather upholstery for sports seats keep the occupants supported under heavy cornering, while insulation looks after cabin refinement.
The M8 Competition Coupé integrates blistering performance and advanced AWD with a feature-rich interior and extensive personalization. With its carbon-fibre components, adaptive suspension, and aggressive styling, it carves out a niche for itself as a luxury performance coupe. However, its price and running costs make it more of an indulgence for enthusiasts than a real practical daily driver.
In terms of competition, the M8 Competition Coupé finds itself in the company of the Porsche 911 Carrera S, and the Mercedes-AMG GT 63.. The M8 may not be as surgical as the Porsche or as wild as the AMG GT, but it hands down offers more raw power and rushes off the line faster than almost all its competitors. Its M xDrive system gives it a usability edge, combining supercar-level speed with daily practicality in Indian conditions. Despite having a low ground clearance, a coupe with fuel efficiency under 9 km/l, and limited rear seating, it still receives a good amount of attention. Exclusivity, luxury, and straight-line performance are three attributes buyers looking in the segment will find that can hardly be equalled.
The BMW M8 Competition Coupé is for an enthusiast willing to sacrifice comfort and fuel economy for everyday livability and supercar acceleration. It excels in raw power, head-turning looks, and M xDrive handling, with a V8 under the hood. However, this may not be to a buyer's liking, particularly when seeking comfort or fuel efficiency, as size remains a hindrance in congested cities. In our opinion, it is a very passionate driver looking for a statement coupé that marries naked speed with BMW luxury.
It produces 625 hp and 750 Nm from a 4.4-liter V8 TwinPower Turbo engine.
It completes the sprint in just 3.2 seconds, making it one of the quickest cars in its class.
It returns a combined mileage of 8.77 km/l under standard testing conditions.
It comes with an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with Drivelogic.
BMW offers six exterior shades and multiple full Merino leather interior trims.
