Hyundai Creta To Get More Affordable By Up To Rs 72,145

Hyundai is one of the many carmakers in India that have announced it will pass the benefits of the new GST reforms onto its customers. Under the new regime, all cars, regardless of their size or engine capacity, will become more affordable. In this article, we discuss the effect of the GST change on Hyundai’s best-selling model, Creta.

Variant-wise prices have not been officially revealed by Hyundai yet.

  • The Hyundai Creta will attract benefits of more than Rs 72,000.
  • The N Line, a sportier alternative to the Creta, will receive GST benefits of over Rs 71,000.
  • Creta comes with an all-electric option, the Hyundai Creta Electric, the prices of which will remain unchanged. The GST on battery electric vehicles remained unchanged.

Hyundai Creta Overview:

The Hyundai Creta is the Korean carmaker's compact SUV, which has been dominating its segment month after month. It comes with multiple powertrain engines, which include a 1.5-litre NA petrol (115 PS/ 143.8 Nm), 1.5-litre turbo petrol (160 PS/ 253 Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (116 PS/ 250 Nm). The turbo petrol engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT, while NA petrol comes with a CVT, and the diesel powertrain features an AT. While both NA and diesel engines are available with a 6-speed manual transmission, the turbo engine is not.

The Creta comprises comfort and convenience features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bose 8-speaker sound system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, paddle shifters (automatic only), keyless entry, wireless phone charger, dual-zone auto AC with rear vents and panoramic sunroof.

The safety suite consists of 6 airbags (as standard), 360-degree camera with dynamic guidelines, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP) and level 2 ADAS system, which includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keep assist, forward collision avoidance system and blind spot monitoring.

The Creta is a four-wheeler that measures longer than 4,000 meters in length and has engine capacities of less than 1,500cc.

Before the reforms, the segment was taxed at 45% (GST + Cess), which has now been revised to 40%.
