Triumph Thruxton 400 To Launch Tomorrow: 3 Things We Know
Latest Launches | Aug 05, 2025 | Posted By: Kartik Rangam
Triumph India has posted a teaser about the all-new 400 cc addition to their stable, the Thruxton 400. The cafe racer will slot at the top of the 400 cc lineup, which includes Speed T4, Speed 400, Scrambler 400X and Scrambler 400 XC. Here is a quick look at all the things we know about the all-new Triumph Thruxton 400.
1. Same Engine As Speed 400
The Thruxton 400 will be powered by a 398 cc engine that delivers 40 PS and 37.5 Nm on the Speed 400. The unit will likely be in a different state of tune, similar to what it's offered with the T4 (31 PS and 36 Nm). Being a cafe racer, one can expect the engine to have high torque values to support the riding style associated with the segment.
2. Front Fairing Inspired By Older Thruxton
In the teaser posted on Triumph India’s Instagram account, we got a glimpse at the fairing of the Thruxton, which seems to be inspired by its elder sibling. Other design elements include bar-end mirrors similar to those on the Speed 400, along with similar LED headlights. The rear design of the Thruxton 400, however, is different from its stablemate and features a sporty cowl and a rounded tail lamp and grab rail.
3. Similar underpinnings to the Speed 400
The similarity to the Speed 400 doesn't end at the engine, as some of the underpinnings are expected to be shared between the two bikes. The Thruxton 400 is expected to come with USD front forks, but can is expected to have a smaller travel distance to support the sporty nature of the bike. Other confirmed specs include dual disc brakes and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Conclusion:
With the launch of Thruxton 400, Triumph will have 5 bikes in the 400 cc segment, covering a wide variety of budgets and segments. While the official price will be revealed tomorrow, Triumph is expected to charge around Rs 2.60-2.70 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Thruxton 400. The cafe racer does not have any direct rivals, with the closest competitor being the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, which costs significantly more than the Triumph offering.
It is highly unlikely that the Thruxton 400 will see sales figures similar to Speed 400 or even the Speed T4 due to its niche segment. Cafe racers are mostly made for swift and short runs around the city and are not suited for long commutes. However, those who have been eyeing an affordable cafe racer (ignoring Husqvarna Vitpilen 250, which is technically a cafe racer) should consider waiting for the Thruxton 400.
