The number of cars in India has been growing steadily, with each year seeing multiple launches across all segments. While models that can be used as daily drivers are many, the list of 7-seaters is not that extensive. That is about to change this year with 7 new upcoming cars that will come with a 7-seater configuration along with a facelift for an existing model. The list includes affordable models such as Kia Carens Clavis and Renault Triber, mid-range SUVs such as MG Majestor and a premium MPV like the MG M9.

Top Upcoming 7-Seaters Cars In India

The upcoming 7-seater cars include models from Maruti, Toyota, MG and Kia along with Renault and Mahindra. These models include both conventional fuel and electric options.

1. 7-seater Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

Expected Price: Rs 14-16 lakh (ex-showroom)

Expected Launch: Second Half of 2025

The 7-seater version of the currently available Maruti Grand Vitara is expected to launch sometime in the second half of 2025. Test mules for the larger GV have been spotted, which revealed that the 7-seater SUV will be getting a redesigned fascia, along with a new design of the alloy wheels and lighting elements which seems inspired by the upcoming e Vitara. Spy shots of the interior were also posted online, which showcased a different dashboard design from that of the 5-seater Grand Vitara. The upcoming 7-seater will be positioned right above its 5-seater sibling and below the Invicto and is expected to be offered through the Nexa channel.

The 7-seater Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is also one of the top upcoming 7-seater cars in India in 2025. Test mules have been spotted multiple times, which revealed some design aspects similar to the 7-seater Grand Vitara. The 5-seater Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Maruti Grand Vitara share the same platform and can be called rebadged versions of each other. This aspect is expected to carry over to the upcoming 7-seater models of both carmakers. While the powertrain information for the upcoming 7-seater is not yet known, it is expected to carry over the same engine as the currently available 5-seater Hyryder.

3. MG Majestor

MG showcased the Majestor during the Auto Expo 2025 and is one of the upcoming 7-seater cars in India. The carmaker confirmed that the Majestor is not the facelift of the existing Gloster but will be sold as an individual product, similar to the Kia Carens and the Kia Carens Clavis. The MG Majestor is sold overseas as the D90 Max, which is slightly larger in dimensions (except the wheelbase) than the Gloster. As it will be placed above the Gloster, it is expected to pack a more feature-rich cabin with a redesigned dashboard. In terms of powertrain, the Majestor is expected to come with the same engine options as the MG Gloster.

Features onboard the Carens Clavis include a 12.3-inch dual-screen setup (infotainment and digital driver display), a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). The upcoming 7-seater car shares the same engines as the Kia Carens with the addition of a manual transmission on the turbo petrol engine.

The M9 will be only available through the ‘MG Select’ channel, which is reserved for premium offerings by the carmaker. It is a fully electric MPV and is expected to come with a 90 kWh battery pack with a WLTP combined range of 430 km, as seen on the globally available model.

Based on the ICE Carens, it is expected to be offered in the same 6- and 7-seater configuration as its namesake. Spy shots revealed that the Kia Carens EV will come with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features and is expected to get features similar to those on the Kia Syros. It is expected to come with multiple battery packs with a claimed range of up to 300-400km.

7. Mahindra XEV 7e

The Mahindra XEV 7e (earlier known as XEV e8), which will be the third INGLO-based model by the Indian carmaker, is expected to launch this year. Details about the upcoming 7-seater car are sparse, but it is expected to come with two battery packs 59 kWh and 79 kWh, similar to those on offer with its stablemate, the XEV 9e. The feature list of the Mahindra XEV 7e is also not known, but one can expect it to come with similar features as the XEV 9e, such as a 12.3-inch triple-screen setup (driver's display, infotainment, co-driver screen), powered and ventilated front seats, dual-zone auto AC, a 360-degree camera and up to 7 airbags.

The only model on this list that is not a new addition to the Indian market is the Renault Triber facelift which is expected to launch this year. Test mules of the 7-seater MPV revealed that the 2025 Renault Triber will receive a new exterior with aggressive design elements. The interior has not been revealed yet, and this being the first major update for the Triber, one can expect it to look different than the current model. The powertrain and feature list are expected to remain the same with tech such as an 8-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker system, hill start assist and a rear view camera. Renault could also add features such as an auto AC and 6 airbags as standard.
